Revolution! Cuba ’58
By Kent Barker
A gripping novel about the Cuban revolution, based on real events and key people. Through the character of Joe Lyons, a South Londoner, radio journalist Kent Barker brings alive the heady days leading up to the downfall of General Batista. From working with the mafia-controlled casinos of Havana to fighting alongside Che Guevara, Lyons’ tale tracks the dramatic events on the ground and follows the political intrigue of the Americans. The story oozes rum, sun, sex, salsa and guns – the essence of Cuba on the eve of the revolution in ’58
A Soldier in Greasepaint:
one man’s unorthodox war

By Felix Barker
Before his post-war career as journalist, theatre critic and historian, Felix Barker was the mainstay of the Balmorals, a troupe of actors, singers and dancers who formed the entertainment unit of the 51st Highland Division. They performed across North Africa after El Alamein, in France just after D-Day, and finally in Berlin where they played in Potsdam during the 1945 conference.
The diaries and Felix’s letters home were found in a box in the attic after his death in 1997 and have been edited by Denise Silvester-Carr.
